Background
Dr Ho Kok Tong has been a Consultant Physician and Gastroenterologist at the Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre since 1981. He was a Senior Lecturer (Department of Medicine) at the University of Singapore and a Consultant Physician and Gastroenterologist at the Singapore General Hospital.
He graduated with a MBBS from the University of New South Wales, Australia (1970) and Master Medicine (Internal Medicine) from the University of Singapore (1974). Dr Ho is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (1979), the American College of Gastroenterologists (1980) and the Academy of Medicine, Singapore (1980).
Dr Ho was awarded a Commonwealth Scholarship and worked as a Clinical Research Fellow at the Liver Unit, Royal Free Hospital, London (1976-77). He was appointed as a Visiting Consultant to the Ministry of Health (1981-1995) and was a member of the Specialist Sub-Committee for Gastroenterology, Academy of Medicine, Singapore. He is a Medical Consultant/Advisor to the Ren Ci Hospital in Singapore.
Dr Ho is a specialist in the management of gastrointestinal and liver diseases including hepatitis B and C and is an expert endoscopist. He has published papers on hepatitis and hepatoma and other liver diseases, peptic ulcer diseases, diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy especially in colonoscopy and colonoscopic polypectomy.
