Dr. Yap-Whang Hwee Yong is a Consultant Medical Oncologist at the Mount Elizabeth Medical Centre. She was previously an Associate Internist/Associate Professor of Medicine with the Department of Medicine at the MD Anderson Hospital in Texas, USA.

She received her MBBS from the University of Newcastle, England (1971) and is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (UK)(1974). She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine (1975) and the American Board of Internal Medicine, Oncology Specialty (1977). Dr. Yap-Whang is also a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (1984), the Academy of Medicine, Singapore (1984) and the Royal College of Physicians (Edinburgh)(1985).

Dr. Yap-Whang was previously a Committee Member of the Singapore Art Museum and the Asian Civilisations Museum Board.

She has a special interest in the areas of Cancer Chemotherapy and Clinical Pharmacology, Breast Cancer, the Central Nervous System and Hepatic Metastases. Dr. Yap-Whang has wide experience in cancer patient care, both hematologic malignancies and solid tumors.
