Dr. Peter Eng is a Consultant Endocrinologist at the Mount Elizabeth Medical Center, Singapore. He is currently appointed as a Visiting Consultant at the Singapore General Hospital as well as a Visiting Consultant with Dover Park Hospice.

He received his medical degree from the National University of Singapore in 1988 and was subsequently admitted as a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (UK) in 1994. He received his specialist accreditation in Endocrinology in 2000 and became a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore in 2000. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (UK) in 2006.

Dr. Eng’s training in endocrinology was at the Singapore General Hospital, the largest tertiary hospital in Singapore. After completing his training in endocrinology, he was awarded a fellowship under the Singapore Health Manpower Development Program to further his training at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston from 1998 -1999. This was followed by a research fellowship training award from the National Medical Research Council from 1999-2000. At the Brigham’s, he trained with Professor Lewis Braverman and Dr William Chin. It was during this fellowship training that he won the prestigious Knoll Thyroid Research Clinical Fellowship Award at meeting of the American Endocrine Society in 1999. This was awarded for outstanding research in the thyroid field. 

He served as a Senior Consultant in the Singapore General Hospital Department of Endocrinology as well as the Director of the Diabetes Centre at the Singapore General Hospital till 2006, when he started his own private practice at Mount Elizabeth Hospital. From 2004-2006 he was a Clinical Lecturer with the National University of Singapore.

Besides clinical work, Dr. Eng is involved in diabetes research and is also a reviewer for both the Singapore Medical Journal and the Annals of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore.
